Ashley writes, "This is something we did at Girls Camp. Our theme was Out of This World and on our final full day at camp we talked about making Christ the center of our world. I started out by sitting everyone in a circle and I asked if before we got started did anyone want a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup? One girls said yes, so I threw her one. Then I explained that it wasn't free. Someone had to pay for it. I asked one of the leaders (I wanted it to be one of the girls, but after asking two girls ahead of time and getting rejected, I just went with a leader!) to do four sit-ups so that that girls could have her PB cup. Then I asked the next girl if she wanted one and so on around the circle. Our wonderful leader ended up doing over 100 full-on situps, which is no easy task. Everyone was silent while they watched. Some girls said they didn't want one because they didn't want her to have to do the sit-ups, but I gave them one anyways and asked her to do four sit-ups for them even though they didn't want the PB cup. After she'd done four sit-ups for everyone, we spoke about how we felt while we watched her struggle to pay for our PB cups. Then we talked about how what she had done for us compared to the Atonement. I had a whole bunch of scriptures ready to share and I just went by the Spirit and shared two of them. There were tears and tons of the girls mentioned this lesson in their testimonies at testimony meeting. It definitely had an impact.

After that little "object lesson" I talked about how we are the center of Christ's world and we should make Him the center of ours. I used a pinwheel as my next object lesson to teach that principle. Just like the pin in the pinwheel holds all the "wings" or "spokes" of the pinwheel together, if Christ is the center of our world everything will work out, even if big winds (trials) come up. I had previously assigned 1-2 Youth Camp Leaders to teach one of seven topics which were the "wings" in our pinwheels of life. These were health, hobbies, school (I taught this one), work, church, family, and friends. Each YCL taught about how we could make Christ the center of our lives in that aspect of our life. I have attached the lesson outline for each topic and how it all ties-in to the pinwheel idea. We split up into groups and rotated around to each of our YCL's stations. At each station the girls got a piece of a pinwheel after committing to make Christ the center of their life in that area of their lives, and then when it was all over we made pinwheels as a reminder to keep Christ at the center of our lives.  We made the pinwheels out of dowels, straws, craft foam for the wings, glue, ribbon, craft paint, and a button to go on the pin."
