Compass Activity
Me, You and Community by Nicole Ferguson
Treasure Hunt by Lisa Moss
We did this at Girl's Camp, after we came back from our hike. We had two small wading pools, filled with warm water and a foot scrub, While half of us soaked our piggies, the other half did a basic oatmeal and olive oil facial. We had cucumber slices for our eyes. Each girl was given a folded washcloth tied with ribbon, they were folded with a pocket in the front containing a facial "recipe book" with facials for different types of skin, and a white rubber Young Women bracelet with flowers in pastel value colors. Meanwhile back at the foot soak, there was lotion for our feet and polish to do pedicures. All the while we had a CD of relaxing spa type music playing. The girls loved it so much that we are making it an after hike camp tradition. (Idea by Peggy Adams)

Smorritos - They are a variation of a recipe I got off a YW Yahoo Group a year ago, and they are amazing! Here's what we do: put a flour tortilla on a piece of foil. Spread butter on the tortilla, then add chocolate chips and marshmallows. Roll up like a burrito, wrap the foil around it, and throw it in the fire for 2-3 minutes. Some girls like to add peanut butter or bananas--there are lots of possibilities. I was calling them Smore Wraps, but one of the counselors in the bishopric took one look at it and called it a "Smorrito". And the name stuck. I also served them at the Camp After-Party where we invite the parents to hear all about camp. see the slide show, hear the songs, etc. They were a hit there too. (by Kristen Black)

MAILBOX IDEAS: Camp Mailbox idea from Beehive Messages
Camp Mailboxes by Krysta McClure
We have used empty #10 cans, painted them and nailed them to a 2X4 in rows and that is their mail box. The girls decorate the lids with their names on them. Some years we put them next to their tents and other years we've put them all together near the cooking area. We used the same ones over and over each year and painted them to go with whatever theme we were using. For example the year our theme was "We Are All Enlisted" we put them all together and painted them camouflage. The year we were Bee'utiful we painted them yellow and put them in a beehive shape. A great thing about these is there is so little cost. We just asked the RS if anyone had empty cans we could have and them we bought new lids. By the way they are nailed to the board though the bottom so they are lying sideways. (Idea by Lori Terril / ga05172007)

Instead of dying the shirts, we used colored shirts and removed the dye with bleach. With tape or stickers, the girls made designs on the t-shirts and with supervision by using spray bottles with bleach in them to remove the color. They come out very nicely. I wonder how the new bleach pens would work?? (Idea by Cheryl Redner)

PJ's Time - The girls in our stake just got home from girls camp, and I heard that they has a PJ'S time every day (Prayer, Journals, and Scripture study). The girls did not come in their PJ'S...it was just 20 minutes set aside every day for this purpose. I heard that it really was a quiet time. The girls really utilized their time to do what they were suppose to instead of visiting with each other. I thought that was a wonderful idea and wanted to share. (Shared by Janis Peterson / ga07272008)

We have what is called the "snickers" box and some slips of paper next to it. When a girl sees another girl do something funny they put write it down on the paper and put it in the box. They get to take a mini snickers for adding to the box. Then, every night, we read the "snickers" and vote on who has the best one and that person receives a giant Snickers candy bar. It is one of the highlights of the night. (Idea by Kerry)
Wizard of Oz - We bought ribbon and beads and with Shrinky dinks we stamped a fire, smiley face, wrote their names, a band aide for first aide, I found a picture of a scare crow as was what our ward was, just whatever we felt the girls would be passing off or doing. I had about 10 Shrinky dinks in all. The girls loved making the necklace and it gave them something to do in down time!! (Idea by LuCinda Brotherson / ga07072008)
